Hoosiers across the state of Indiana are reaping the benefits of Centaur Gaming’s economic impact, and Centaur continues to race ahead for Indiana.
Between the two race track casinos alone, Centaur has invested more than $1 billion into their host regions in the form of payroll, regional purchases, and local government payments. In total, Centaur has infused more than $2.2 billion into Indiana’s economy since 2008.
At year-end 2016, Centaur’s two race-track casinos had welcomed more than 46.5 million visits and employed more than 2,000 team members who have earned more than $543 million in combined salaries, wages, benefits and tips since the casino openings and maintain continual involvement in various community-related endeavors, primarily through volunteerism and service on local boards and organizations.
Centaur is a staunch corporate citizen earning them both national and area level recognition for continued excellence from numerous casino, racing, and service-industry publications and organizations. There are more than 40 Centaur team members volunteering on over 60 Boards and Organizations with a combined total of over 278 years of service.
Not only is Centaur’s commitment to Indiana’s welfare upheld by their corporate citizenship and direct economic benefits such as employment and tourism, but they are also passionately committed to the horse racing industry and growing the industry further in Indiana. It is no surprise that horse lovers and those who are passionate about racing have a bad taste in their mouth caused by the relationship between gaming and racing. However, Centaur is a game-changing example. With two of their most highest-ranking executives being [Jim Brown and Rod Ratcliff] both fans of racing, Centaur is fully committed to every aspect of ensuring the integrity of the horse racing industry.
In 2017, Centaur is pursuing even more opportunities to enhance its impact on Indiana’s horse racing community. They have already partnered with Purdue University on the Centaur Equine Specialty Hospital and matched funds to raise more than $18,000 for racing retirement foundations.
The Centaur Equine Specialty Hospital offers the most advanced diagnostic equipment including an Equine 4DDI diagnostic imaging system, which is only the third of its kind in the world and the first in the Midwest. Just imagine the horsemen that will be utilizing this facility! Indiana horsemen will remain in Indiana and outsiders will travel to the state to take advantage of this state of the art equipment and veterinarian services.
A lot of credit for the growth and recent national success of Indiana’s horse racing industry goes to Centaur’s unique partnerships with Indiana’s breed organizations, the Indiana Racing Commission, horsemen and horsewomen from across Indiana, as well as Indiana’s lawmakers.
There is no doubt that Centaur Gaming has been and will continue to be a beacon of opportunity for Hoosiers and those in the region seeking entertainment, state of the art equine facilities and equipment, horse racing, tourism, gaming, business, employment and more.
